Stupa Of Sanchi - UNESCO World Heritage Site is located near Vidisha in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh. Located 46kms from Bhopal, Sanchi is an important place of Buddhism and Buddhist pilgrimage. Sanchi is renowned for its many stupas dating from 3rd century b.c. to 12th century CE. The most recognized of these is Stupa No.1. or the Great Stupa. Due to its its historical significance, Sanchi features in most history text books in India and also on the Rs.200 currency note.
